Cathy is a respected senior medical negligence lawyer and has worked exclusively in the personal injury field for over 20 years. She is a NSW Law Society Accredited Specialist in Personal Injury Law (2002), an accreditation which is only held by 6% of solicitors in New South Wales.
When approached to join Conrad’s team in 2021 as Medical Negligence Practice Lead, Cathy recognised the importance the firm places not only on genuinely supporting their clients but sharing knowledge of the deficiencies in the healthcare system in order to promote change.
Cathy works from both our Mid North Coast and Newcastle offices. Her focus, and passion, is applying her legal knowledge and experience for the benefit of regional clients throughout NSW.
She has vast experience handling complex and sensitive medical negligence matters, typically involving catastrophic injury. As a parent, Cathy is particularly motivated to assist clients with birth injury, birth trauma and obstetric claims. Her personal experiences have also led to a developing interest in palliative care services and she actively supports fundraising for types of cancer which receive less publicity and therefore, less research funding.
Cathy’s expertise in the medical negligence field was recognised in 2019 when she was named on the Doyle’s List as a recommended Plaintiff medical negligence compensation lawyer in NSW.
Cathy’s determination and attention to detail is greatly valued by her clients, together with her down-to-earth nature. She regularly receives referrals from within the legal profession and from members of the community.
The firm’s values, which include acting with compassion and respect and continually developing your knowledge and expertise, really align with my own. My greatest satisfaction comes from fully understanding the stories of my clients – they are stories I never forget – and helping them feel supported throughout the legal process.
