An increase in complaints about outcomes in medical, dental and allied health issues in rural areas has prompted Principal Conrad Curry and Senior Associate Jane Bulter from The Law Office of Conrad Curry to host a public information session to give those affected an opportunity to learn about whether they have a case for medical negligence.
They aim to address the devastating consequences for patients who have suffered at the hands of less than competent allied health practitioners, lack of oversight of visiting medical officers or poorly trained or equipped staff due to lack of funding in rural hospitals compared to their big city counterparts.
‘The broader majority of health care professionals are incredibly diligent and meticulous, but they are often severely disadvantaged by lack of funds and support when working in a rural area. People may not realise there can be recourse at law if their lives have been permanently altered by adverse health care and the associated ongoing expenses. We want to raise awareness in the bush and let those affected know that there are avenues for redress.”
Ms Bulter will be highlighting two other major areas of concern, the growing number of maternal and infant birth trauma and dental negligence cases.
The event will be held on Tuesday 12 May in Narrabri and will be followed by events in other rural centres in June and July. Presentations will be at 2pm and 6pm with private consultations available with Mr Curry or Ms Bulter between and after sessions by arrangement.
