Free Private Consultations – 10 March
An increase in complaints about outcomes in medical and allied health issues in rural areas has prompted two senior lawyers from The Law Office of Conrad Curry to host free private consultation sessions in Taree to give those affected an opportunity to learn about whether they have a case for medical negligence.
Principal Conrad Curry and Consultant Solicitor Jane Bulter from The Law Office of Conrad Curry aim to address the devastating consequences for patients who have suffered at the hands of less than competent allied health practitioners, lack of oversight of visiting medical officers or poorly trained or equipped staff due to lack of funding in rural hospitals compared to their big city counterparts.
Tragically, many in the Taree region were affected by a Visiting Medical Officer, Dr Emil Gayed. There were numerous complaints by patients and other doctors and hospital staff about Dr Gayed including the unnecessary removal of organs, unnecessary or incorrect procedures, perforation of organs, the failure to keep adequate clinical records, and the failure to obtain proper consent from patients. To make matters worse, Dr Gayed was vision impaired.
If you have been a patient of Dr Gayed we will be able to advise about your potential legal options in relation to any injuries you may have sustained while under his care.
“The broader majority of health care professionals are incredibly diligent and meticulous, but they are often severely disadvantaged by lack of funds and support when working in a rural area. The aim of litigation is not only to deliver positive financial outcomes for those affected, but also provide answers about what went wrong and help bring about systemic change to protect others in the community from similar wrongdoing.
Private consultations with Mr Curry and Ms Bulter will be held in the Grevillea Room in Club Taree at 121 Wingham Road, Taree on Wednesday 10 March.
