Tom Hunter-Leahy is a civil litigator and personal injury lawyer, with a keen interest in a broad range of matters, including public liability, motor accidents, workers’ compensation, health regulatory matters, medical negligence and aged care negligence.
Tom was admitted to practise in 2015, and also holds a Bachelor Degree in Communications from the University of Newcastle.
Tom gained significant experience in Health Law and Medical Negligence at another mid-size, specialised firm. He has acted in a broad range of matters, including GP negligence, emergency medicine, surgical errors, nursing negligence, dental negligence, gynaecological injuries (including pelvic mesh), paediatric medicine, oncology, plastic surgery, orthopaedic and psychiatric injury claims, as well as aged care negligence claims.
Tom worked as a full-time Health Law paralegal before being promoted to the position of solicitor and, later, acted in the role of practice-team leader – managing medical negligence claims in the District and Supreme Courts. Tom maintains a 100% success rate with respect to medical negligence claims.
Tom has also acted for both complainants (victims) and respondents (medical and allied health professionals) in relation to professional standards and disciplinary matters, referred to the Health Care Complaints Commission (HCCC) and to the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal (NCAT).
In order to continue to deliver a personalised, trusted and effective service to all clients on behalf of the Law Office of Conrad Curry, Tom has been certified by the Independent Review Office (IRO) as an ‘Approved Lawyer’. In NSW, IRO covers the cost of legal advice and representation for injured workers.
On 1 November 2022, Tom attained specialist accreditation in Personal Injury through the NSW Law Society, an accreditation which is only held by 5% of solicitors in New South Wales.

The majority of our clients have suffered personal injury and have already been through a life-changing ordeal (which often leads to a profound and lasting burden on them and their loved ones).
Many clients feel understandably anxious and overwhelmed at the prospect of commencing legal proceedings to obtain fair compensation for their injuries, loss and damage.
In short, my job is to give those clients a voice, answer the difficult questions, provide timely legal advice, and to ensure that all of our clients feel fully supported throughout the entire claims process.
